  I came in at 10 p.m. and mentioned that it was my 75th birthday and that I had just spent four hours in the Winnipeg Airport. I wanted to know where I could get a hot fudge sundae. The woman behind the desk excused herself and when she returned she upgraded our room. When we got to the room the phone rang and she said that she had called the kitchen and they were making a hot fudge sundae and I could have it in the lounge or in my room. That's first class service!

  The staff and service were courteous and very professional. Top notch. Top class. My last name is not the easiest in the world to pronounce, yet they got it right most of the time and in fact used it whenever I called the front desk and the like. ( I certainly do not begrudge them for effort.) They answered the phone, "Mr.X, how can I help you/ do for you?" - this personal touch and top class service matches the cost of my stay. The location is very good, right next to Parliament Hill - and steps away from the convention centre. You get what you pay for- and at this hotel, you get nothing but the best. By the way , the food is superb. As are the work- out facilities and the art deco swimming pool.

  The price is steep- especially during the week. The purpose of my stay was not for a family - friendly vacation - in which case this hotel is not appropriate, but for a convention, for which this hotel is entirely appropriate. I am getting some money back from an organization I belong to related to the convention, which is reducing my out - of - pocket costs. It is a prestigious, luxurious, centrally located hotel, and priced accordingly. The price, in my view, precludes a 'value for money' discussion. Would I stay again? If for a convention or business, even if paying 100% out of my own pocket- yes. If for a family -friendly vacation, no. Romantic getaway? Absolutely.

  The hotel is absolutely beautiful -- long, wide corridors, the elegance of a gone-by era! And the bedding! I felt as though I was sinking down into something so very comfortable!

  Liked everything. However, because it is an older hotel, it is not completely sound-proof. However this was not disruptive to us.

  The staff was wonderful, the rooms were comfortable and clean, convenient location. My wife and I stayed at this hotel as a last weekend getaway before our first child is born, and everyone took excellent care of us. Highly recommended!!

  All staff we met were courteous, professional, and helpful

  I was immensely disappointed that the pool was closed. I would have chosen a different hotel had I known I would not be able to use the pool facilities.

  Decoration on the lobby and exterior of the hotel. Also the hotel is huge

  The single and queen size rooms are so small, you can not walk or lay down in these rooms. The air condition did not work perfectly, could not sleep because of that.

  Beautiful hotel--marble floors--shiny brass, etc.

  Our room was next to the service elevator so noisy at 8:00 a,.M.even though we were told it was not near the elevators! Beautiful anniversary meal at Wilfrid's was cold-so disappointing. Needs more drawer space in room.

  Concierge did not know which cruise lines offered dinner cruise, and directed us to wrong one, resulting in us missing the trip. If he did not know, he should have said so.
